Born in England to a wealthy family of French descent, Anna DeVere was the daughter of a priest.  The strict rules and narrow boundaries of her privileged life never suited her and her rebellious ways disgraced the family.  To the relief of all, Ms DeVere finally left home at 16 when her parents tried to force her to join a convent.  Little is known of Ms DeVere’s whereabouts until she arrived on the island of Tortuga at the age of 19.  Here, she earned a decent living thieving and selling her ‘company’ until one evening her paths crossed with those of a certain Captain Jack  Vincent.

Combining a life of piracy with her present trade seemed like a good alternative to her life on Tortuga and MS DeVere joined the Avenger.
